Where Were You

A Poem

When the bombs dropped

And the children’s voices were silenced eternally

When the buildings collapsed

And generations were crushed indefinitely

When the water was cut off

And slow suffocation was ordered purposefully

When the lies were created

And believed to be true internationally

When governments put a price on Palestinian lives

And supported genocide intentionally

When you had a chance to say something

But you chose silence clearly

When you see unprecedented violence

And you chose blindness perpetually

When the truth was in front of your face

And you chose to live obliviously

When history wrote itself with the blood of the innocent and oppressed

Yet there were those of us who chose to see

We are determined to sit here screaming with tears in our eyes and standing in solidarity

“FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE.”
