Same history, different day

I wanted to share a piece of history I learned this morning.

In 1988 at Marquette Park in Chicago, the KKK held a rally with around 500 people. This was in response to a multiracial gathering of around 200 folks who had gathered in memory of Martin Luther King Jr. It was noted that approximately 900 officers were dispatched to the area to be present for this event.

There are a few things that I think are important to take away from this event.

I can offer love to others in ways they’ve never experienced. I’ve stared death in the face and refused to fold. I have been the pillar of strength for many while silently suffocating under the weight of crippling mental health issues.

Empaths, it is time to take our power back. We must learn to stand our ground and refuse to allow people to incessantly take from us without offering anything in return. Healthy relationships are reciprocal. They are not defined by our ability to give 100% to people who give us rare emotional breadcrumbs when convenient for them.

Let me go ahead and buckle up for this fake outrage over Adam Toledo.

People can watch these babies get gunned down and express such performative disdain but absolutely refuse to do anything to change it.

The list gets longer, the names are said and forgotten within 72 hours, the cops continue to murder without being held accountable, and people choose to stand with these child killers.
